Welcome to to the Women's Issues Committee.
It seems like we just rang in the New Year and it is suddenly February.
February is the month of the heart. Dating back to A.D. 270 with origination of Valentine’s Day,
with romance and love at the center of the month. It was this history that made it National
Heart month. Why heart month? Heart disease is the #1 killer of women causing 1 in 3 deaths
each year. We can work together women to women to support each other to
decrease the numbers of women impacted by our biggest killer.
In Women’s Issues committee we consider our memberships an interconnected group of
women brought together through service and friendship. It is important during the month of
the “heart” that we celebrate and care for one another in a meaningful way. When someone
speaks of joys,” celebrate with them. When someone speaks of pain, respond with care and
compassion. Each day we need to be “Celebrating and Caring” for each other.
